Wonder – Peaceful harp and Violin
Good to be back in Portugal again enjoying the wonder of life.
Still – Calmin Harp and Violin
I was very excited to get a harp again after having lost my old one in the fire of 2017. This is the first piece of calming music I have recorded with it. I’ve always been very inspired by the African harps used when taking Iboga to help hold the space. This is very much a western Style piece but with the idea of repitition and trance.
Desert Mountain
This is a collaboration with Luis de Barros on Santoor and percusion. It uses middle eastern scales.
Mystery
This is a piece of calming music I recorded using an instrument I was commissioned to make by Arganil Council. It’s a xylophone made with wooden spoons which is a symbol for this area.
Hey Amba
This is a chant to the Goddess, the universal mother Amba. Who brings awarness and bliss. Gratitude to her for our physical existance.
Jaya Rhada-Madhava
This kirtan is about Krishna in vrindaven – the pure land. It speaks of his love for his consort and all the Gopis and their love for him. We can use this mantra to help us to see the purity and perfection in all, it teaches us to love not because the other is a manifestation of the divine but just because. Pure unconditional love for no reason. Perhaps this is pointing to the nature of our soul and the unity consciousness that is pure love.
Resound
This is a deep piece of meditation music. It is composed of a profound drone sound with overtones and a soothing violin improvisation over the top with hints of eastern influences.
Breath – Calming music for housework and cooking
This week I decided to collaborate with my wife, Beth Richardson Thiessen. I looked at one of her paintings and composed this piece of music. The piece is entitled breathe and, inspired by the subject matter of the painting, I’ve dedicated it to house work and cooking, although I’m sure it could be used for all sorts of things.
