The Green Tara Mantra – Om Tare Tutare Ture Soha, is from the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. Green Tara is the embodiment of compassion in action. The mantra has been used for centuries and is charged with this energy, by hearing it or repeating it we tap into that collective energy field which is compassion, caring, the mother principle. Her tenderness reaches us where ever we are and we feel her blessing green light cleansing, purifying us and comforting us. This in turn inspires us to be more compassionate and kind in our lives and we pray that her light goes out to bless all those who are suffering throughout the universe. In the understanding that we are Tara all is Tara everything, every sound, every thought and that there is no Tara, no self, all is emptiness. May all beings be happy
Here
This piece was recorded live next to a mountain stream and mastered in the studio. The idea was to capture the energy of the magical place with the sun streaming in through the tree canopy above and the stream gently rushing by. Using a repetitive chord sequence to induce a relaxed yet concentrated state in the listener it prompts us to be here fully with whatever is going on.
Being
This is another piece in my Magical Places videos. Due to bad weather I stayed at home and created this calming, Ambient piece of music by the fire. It creates a warm positive relaxed atmosphere that helps us remember that while things might sometimes look bad and times might be tough we can always relax into the present moment and enjoy what we have.
The backbone of the music is a simple chord sequence repeated throughout on the guitar with a violin improvisation over the top.
Free
Using a simple repetitive form this piece is relaxing to listen to and helps induce a trance like state, a little like a mantra it repeats itself whilst the violin soars and sometimes dips into the fabric of the music. This piece feels like it’s about freedom but also about the restrictions we have in life.
Expand
This video expresses a longing for transcendence, reaching up to something higher, away from the cares of the world. It was filmed high above the world at Deguimbra above Benfeita in the Portuguese Mountains. I used an Indian/middle eastern scale to create this spontaneous performance.
Ode to a tree
I decided to record this video on the top of a hill here in Portugal that 2 years earlier had been ravaged by the wild fire which destroyed a vast area, killing many trees, animals and people and took our and many homes. I found this sad looking tree, dead but still standing and decided to play to it. It is my ode to this tree and all the trees that have burned in the last few years by wild fires all over the whole world.
Peace
Here is an offering of Peace. Inspired by the scales used in Iran this improvisation is my fusion of different cultures. I hope it will create a peaceful atmosphere when you listen to it.
Beginning
This is an atmospheric Violin and Piano Improvisation. I have called it beginning, it perhaps reflects these times. This is the beginning of a new year and while there is much uncertainty on the planet and in our own lives we need to hold on to hope.
Middle East
This is a piece of relaxing Violin improvisation using a middle eastern scale and is dedicated to understanding and peace, especially in the middle east. It uses quarter tones which is slightly unusual to our western ears, it creates a mysterious sound perhaps pointing to that which can not be known. It is recorded at 432Hz which is a more calming frequency related to the frequency of the earth.
This
This piece expresses the intensity of the present moment – at times happy and clear at others sad and introspective – all aspects of the perfection of this moment to be accepted with grace.
